Where are the godly leaders today? Those that are strong, yet self controlled; disciplined, yet forgiving; courageous, yet kind; heroic, yet humble. The list is regrettably short.
In addition to the God’s prophet Elijah, our 2011 Fall Study profile, we also discover God’s prophet Daniel exemplifying these same kinds of Godly, masculine, admirable traits. He will be the focus of our Winter 2012 Uncommon Man character profile.
Honestly, the life of faith and submission to God’s purposes is tough traveling. Fighting to hold on under extreme pressure sometimes seems impossible. With fearless integrity and fullness of humility, the prophet Daniel survives the lion’s den, interprets the king’s dreams, and openly defies the standards of acceptable idolatry. He does so in the face of misfortune, temptation, manipulation, intimidation, and even the threat of death. He choose to face each challenge with courage, trust, and radical obedience.
Will you rise to the challenge for a weekly encouragement to become a Daniel-like man who is not afraid to live courageously and to walk humbly with your God?
Our Winter Bible study is open to all men, meeting every Tuesday morning beginning promptly at 6:30am in Fellowship Hall. Fresh morning coffee, bagels/doughnuts, Bible Study, encouragement, prayer, discussion, friendship – all in one hour.
Discipleship Groups for men meet at various times throughout the week, providing opportunities for men to grow spiritually through community, encouragement, support and accountability in a confidential, non-threatening environment.
Saturday Morning of Prayer
Prayer Gatherings are a regular part of the Men's ministry agenda. Monthly mornings for a half-day of prayer are scheduled on the last Saturday of each month, beginning at 8:00am.
Service projects
Service Projects provide a tangible outlet for serving others, so our Men's Ministry team schedules specific Saturday work projects throughout the year. Every other year there is an all-church Men's Retreat, and an Outreach Breakfast is scheduled that features a popular speaker and/or athlete who has the ability to clearly present the Gospel to men and boys.
