Cathy Tanana

At Highland Park we love Cathy Tanana's humorous, honest, and insightful style as Director of Women's Ministries. After-hours she leads Bible Studies for the spouses and girlfriends of Detroit Tiger baseball players. Her enthusiasm for the game comes from her 33-year marriage to Frank, former all-star pitcher and now all-star witness for Christ.

Raised in Long Beach, California, where she studied dance at Long Beach State, Cathy met Frank when he played for the California Angels. After crisscrossing the country with stops in Boston, Texas, and New York, Frank finished his long and successful career in hometown Detroit. The family still resides in neighboring Farmington Hills.

God has graciously extended Cathy and Frank's Christian ministry far beyond our campus to sports locations, church outreaches, and retreats around the country. The family has grown, too. They are proud parents of four daughters, four sons-in-law, and six grandchildren.

The verse that Cathy has loved through all of her moves and changes is Isaiah 43:18-19, “Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, and it will spring forth. Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
