Updated 8/6/08...

* Pray for Dave & Lynn West (ABWE – support raising). Dave’s mom, Lillian Pistagnesi, went home to be with the Lord on July 27th. Funeral services were held last Thursday. Send condolences to 17654 Fox, Redford, MI 48240. Keep the family in your prayers as they continue their travels in search of more financial partners to reach their 85% mark by October.

*Suzy Grumelot (World Team in France) asks for prayer that the contacts made and the seeds sown from the recent Paris Prayer Conference would bear much fruit for His kingdom. Pray for Suzy as she travels in the U.S. and Canada through this week before returning to France.

*Pray for J & C K (Asia) as C left yesterday to return to the field and J remains here to get their 2 sons into college. Pray that J will be able to assist his aging parents as well as get the boys transitioned into school before he returns in a month.

*Pray for Nate VanNoord (Navigators in Detroit). The Navigators have 3 summer internship programs with college students going on in different city neighborhoods. Two of the programs involve running day camps for kids with CDC. In the evenings, Nate and his team train the college students in Bible study, social justice, racial reconciliation, and discipleship. Pray that they would have teachable hearts and minds, apply what they learn this summer for the rest of their lives, and build significant relationships cross-culturally.

*John & Jacky Weidman (Navigators in Detroit) ask for prayer for the effectiveness of the summer Day Camp program run through HPCO. Many of the children involved in the camp will be gone this week for overnight camping. Pray for safety and that God would supply the remaining finances needed to give scholarships to the kids and money to pay their workers. They are thankful that their ministry facility finally has plumbing again after replacing the pipes that were stolen in April. Pray for the ongoing clean-up of the rest of the basement.

*Scott & Lorna Muha (TEAM in Venezuela) ask for prayer as a team of 8 from Woodside Bible Church are there helping with an evangelistic outreach through English classes. Pray that the students will be open to the Gospel and that God will be glorified and many will come to know Him. Continue to pray for their daughter, Addie—to seek what God would have for her and develop the discipline to follow it. Since the Muhas and Ruth Kirtland will be leaving Caracas in a year, pray for the partnership between the church they work with and a larger, more mature church about 20 minutes away. They need to know what direction God has for the church by the end of the summer.

*Pray for Joyce Nies (retired from Wycliffe in TX) as she is here in our mission home for the month. Pray for good witness opportunities with her brother and sister as she reconnects with family. She is delighted to be back here and “hopes to be a blessing to HPBC who has faithfully supported her for almost half a century.”

*Pray for Cal and Norma Hoeksema as they are in China for the next 4 wks. teaching English to Chinese students, for safety and to be able to show God’s love.
