*Pray for Andy & Holly Rist (home assignment w/SEND from Ukraine). Abigail’s recovery from ear surgery had not healed as much as the Dr. was hoping at her last appointment, so he wants to see her next week to see if the operation to close the hole in her ear drum has more completely healed. If not, she will need a more involved surgery. Noah’s Dr. feels that his surgery for the correction on his lazy eye is coming along well. Pray for good resolution for both before they return to Ukraine in January.
*Rick & Christy Gascho (Pioneers in Czech Republic) ask for prayer for comfort and healing for the Hosky family that lost their 19 yr. old daughter (Mia) in a tragic car accident. Pray for the people in the church and Sunday School children where she taught as they work through the loss of this active young lady. Pray for Ryan Over, the Gascho’s new teammate, as he raises his final support and assists in workplace ministries and outreach through Betanie’s daughter church in Novy Lkiskovec. Pray that the Lord would bless His word as they study and mentor those in the workplace through the ON-on-LINE Bible study series. Pray for Rich Gascho, their 9th grade son, as he processes all the positive experiences he had this summer helping in various camps. Pray for their church youth group as they try to draw more kids in to know Christ and for Rich as he helps in the worship team as well as junior church. Pray that the Gaschos would be able to finish their term there (10 mos.) and not have to return early due to support shortage.
*Joe & Nancy King (retired in CO) are thankful for their first camping week for their church’s teens where 3 kids made commitments to follow Christ. Their VBS was the first week of August in the evening where they averaged 40 kids/night. They were thankful to close the week with 74 in attendance—a first! Pray for a replacement youth pastor to fill this voluntary position in a growing ministry. There are teens where many come from very difficult family situations and the previous youth pastor was beginning to see opened doors. He just accepted a job in another church in MO. Please pray for funds to purchase a church van to help for the youth work, as well as a “bus run” for Sunday morning services. Pray for discernment for the many requests they get for food, propane, gas money, etc.—they are in a very poor socio-economic area. Joe’s mom is 99 yrs. old and they just recently had to put her into a nursing care facility. She fell and broke her shoulder and needs more care than they could give her. Pray that they would have the energy to visit her every day and make the drive—45 miles round trip—and for understanding attitudes for all. Send a note of encouragement to: joewking@gmail.com.
*Pray for Ron & Marcia Baker (semi-retired in TX). They recently looked into moving into a retirement facility in OK where they have many CAM missionary friends living, as well as facilities in the Dallas area, and discovered that move-in and monthly fees were more than they could handle. They were thankful for help from their TN kids who came to help them clear out much of their “stuff” in order to stay put in their home. Pray that they will be able to keep busy as the HCJB Network Chaplain working the 15 stations along the border of Mexico. Pray for Marcia who continues to struggle some with her memory, sleep apnea and Restless Leg Syndrome, which may be causing painful Lymphedema in her swollen legs. She gets very discouraged. Send them encouragement to: ron-marcia@tx.rr.com.
*Pray for A. N. (Central Asia). She is happy to report that the training of their new staff is going well. They have 2 wks. of courses in the capital this month. Pray that the staff will internalize what they learn and be able to translate it to work in communities. Pray for rain and a winter with lots of rain/snow—wheat crops were very poor due to extreme summer heat. Pray for her times meeting with ‘Karen’, who seems to really be hungering for fellowship and time in the Word. Pray for safety for A and her mom as they vacation together for a week this month—for safety in travel.
*N. & S. G. (Asia) ask for prayer for Paul Westlund’s family – a pilot, along with 2 passengers, who were killed last week in a plane crash in their country. Paul was a man of godly character and N’s close friend/co-hort. Pray that these families will feel Jesus’ presence and grace.
