The Men's Ministry of HPBC has this primary goal: to create a culture where every man glorifies God by living out His designed purposes. This is accomplished under the leadership of our Men's Ministry Team, who meet on a regular basis to pray, plan, and strategize for meaningful ways to engage and invest in men so that they connect with Jesus Christ, God’s Word, and other men.

Studies through the Gospel of Mark

Get it? Got it. Good!

The Book of Mark is the tell-it-like-it- is gospel; fast moving, action packed, and on the go. Reading much like a half-hour show during prime time – the camera often zooms in on Jesus for a miracle or teaching, then pans the audience for a reaction. Mark’s gospel features the words and deeds that prove Jesus is the Christ, climaxed by the pinnacle confession of Peter, followed by his account of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

As a man, Mark is a restored Believer - the kind of man the Lord consistently uses. Not a prophet or a pastor; not a teacher or an evangelist, not a leader but a helper – restored to service and given the privilege to minister alongside Paul and Peter. And, Mark is given the opportunity to write one of the four inspired gospels.

Mark’s account of the journey of Jesus’ disciples is honest and sometimes pathetic – so much they did not understand. It is most likely that we’ll find ourselves in this story, with our tendencies toward cluelessness and failures. God will again prove Himself to be the God of new beginnings. His ultimate offer is life out of death.

How about getting up early to join the men of Tuesday morning? Coffee, bagels/doughnuts, Bible study, prayer, friendship – all in one hour, 6:30 – 7:30am.

Discipleship Groups
Discipleship Groups for men meet at various times throughout the week, providing opportunities for men to grow spiritually through community, encouragement, support and accountability in a confidential, non-threatening environment.

Saturday Morning of Prayer
Prayer Gatherings are a regular part of the Men's ministry agenda, providing scheduled monthly Saturday morning half Day of Prayer; and meeting every Tuesday morning during the summer months for an hour of prayer together.

Service projects
Service Projects provide a tangible outlet for serving others, so our Men's Ministry team plans for two specific Saturday work projects throughout the year. Every other year there is an all-church Men's Retreat. Additionally, each year the men host an Outreach Breakfast featuring a popular speaker and/or athlete who has the ability to clearly present the gospel to men and boys.
